INTERVIEW With Belli Grau Sustainable Brand
Tell us about you and how your brand started.
Belli Grau are Carla and Sol, two friends who came together to create a project that reflected their deepest passion: creating timeless, long-lasting leather products inspired in nature and in women.
What's the inspiration behind your designs?
Our main inspiration is nature, the beauty of imperfection and women. We believe in going with the flow and following our hearts in everything we do. Women in our family taught us to fight for what we want and never give up. Our brand is a tribute to them.
Have you always wanted to be a designer?
Sol: in my case, not really. I first studied to be a sworn translator and suddenly discovered that fashion and design was something I was really into. I decided to switch careers and get my degree in Fashion Design.
Carla: I always loved fashion since I was a little girl but I never thought I would have a brand. I guess that all my love for fashion came into reality with this project and many years working as a graphic designer for fashion brands
What is your favorite piece in your collection and why?
I guess our favorite is Elena. She was our first bag and we just love her. It turns out that she is also our best-seller.

What is your company philosophy, purpose or mission?
Life-lasting quality, ethical production, timeless designs
What are your plans for your brand going forward?
We would love to add new product lines vey soon while always keeping in mind ethical production and sustainability.
What did the pandemic teach you?
To be patient, to be consistent with what we want. To always bear in mind that despite how hard things seem, we have to keep on going.
What has been your toughest challenge as a small business owner?
Getting people to know our brand and trust our products. It is now a great satisfaction to receive great feedback and reviews since we work so hard and we believe our products are worth it.
Your best moment as a designer ?
Seeing our first collection come to life and selling our first bag. Those moments will always bring a smile to our faces.
What is your design process? How are your items produced?
All our items are handcrafted in a small workshop in Madrid. We first choose the leather and materials we will work with while we sketch some first ideas. When designs are ready, we send everything to our artisans and they start working.
